Much better! Your right it is missing something. Maybe pop up the red more or change the purple hue a bit more....I think if you went a brighter red and the darker purple you will find the balance you want.
Well man you know me, not too good with colors. But I'll give it a shot.
The red looks awesome! The purple does too but the red over takes it. I don't think looking across the table I would really see the "swath" of purple as opposed to the red. I think the way they are painted is perfect however. Just a matter of getting that purple to command as much eye catch as the red does.
But again I am no color expert! I don't even know if that's possible without completely changing the red, which as it is now, is awesome.
