Ebay Neverending Issues
It's almost funny now. So my eBay account appears to be completely jacked. I placed a bid on a an item, and I receive the confirmation email. I check yesterday to see if I won.
Nope didn't win. Winning bid was $13... my max bid... $17. Huh? So I login and check my "bids and offers" page. Empty, zero bids shown. I check the items "won/lost" page... Blank... zero.. nada.
So I'm thinking, ok something happened, didn't register whatever.
So come into work this morning, and get an eBay email "You need to pay for your item".. oh boy... Winning bid... $14????
I click thru the process of payment, and it prompts me "Do you want to link your Paypal Account to eBay?" .. Hmmm.. let me think. Sure, that'd be great since they've been linked for 10 or so years, and I just linked my Seller account. That'd be great eBay, please do this.
So I pay for the item, get the confirmation email that I paid... check my status page. Blank, nothing, nada, ziltch... no bids, no winning items.. nothing.
This is just getting ridiculous now >.<
I have three more auctions hanging out, so I'm curious to see how these go. If these give me problems with "bogus+email@gmail.com", or "You've bid.." no you didn't "Yes You did", no you didn't "You, won pay up", nope no items here move along... then I'll just have to create a new account, and new paypal.
Unfortunate, as I'm hitting my eBay 14th Anniversary membership.

Ebay Fail... Again ..
UPDATE! Just realized this is still going to the wrong email address! My email address in eBay is "doomicon.painting@gmail.com", and the payment is being sent to "doomicon@gmail.com", with the incorrect "bogus+ebay@gmail.com" as the payee..
I'm about ready to offer free database support and/or framework development to eBay.. sheesh!
So sold my second painted army, yay! Got everything going, was hoping for smooth sailing...
nope.
Ebay did it again. After the first issue I created an email address that was according to eBay standards. Changed my email in eBay, and also added that email to my wife and I's paypal account.
So now I sell my Black Templar Army, I follow all the steps, send an invoice.. Great buyer, pays quickly.
I get a copy of the invoice this morning to the correct address.. AND yup, you guessed it.. First line...
"Hello bogus+ebay@gmail.com"
ARGH! I checked account settings in Ebay and the address doesn't exist! I did take the step of ensuring my paypal account was linked. It appears it was linked for buying, but not for selling.. Ok, that's fine. I forgot to link my paypal account, but c'mon. Still sending payments from an email address that is no longer registered.
So offering free shipping again, customer comes first :-)
Just a lil rant. Hopefully this will go better with my Orks.

Ebay + Paypal = Expensive!
So things worked out, customer didn't seem to read the email to clearly, just canceled and paid the invoice I sent. He was confused about the lack of shipping costs, had to explain again that I would pay shipping.
Everything worked out, taking the package to work with me so I can ship it out at lunch time and update customer with a tracking number.
How much did I make? What does Ebay and Paypal charge?
Let's see.
+$535 Sold
-$21.17 (Paypal charge for the $535 transaction)
-$49.54 (Ebay Charge)
Left over... $464.29. Now minus the shipping I had to pay due to my eBay account error.
Grand Total $403.34.
Yikes. Last time I sold something on eBay (it's been yeeeeears), no matter how much you sold it for, you were charged things like 18 cents a picture, a buck for the listing... so you had more control over the cost, and it would come out to be $12 max daddy with pics.
In the future I won't be selling painted armies, only individual units or battleforce sized. Starting bids will be alot higher. Would've been better to learn this monetary lesson with my Orks, however no worries I'll keep trucking forward.
Footnote, I now understand why sellers cannot possibly give the discounts on 40k that I think they should give. If ebay is charging 10% (9+listing fee) of the sell price, that's a 10% discount that you can't get.

Heyoh!
It's been awhile since my last post. Found some older pics that never made it.. they were interesting, so giving them a post.
Noobhammer group is still playing every Saturday. We've mixed up armies a bit for variety, and I have to say... Chaos sucks against 5ed Armies. Fun to play, but geesh!
I bought all of Jawaballs Dark Eldar, *Thanks Jawa!*, and have alot of figs and raiders to put together. Think this will be my last army. With the announcement that UK shops can't ship to the U.S. (no more waylandgames.co.uk orders), and announcement of price hikes. I'm done. This is a fun game... but not that fun. I have plenty of figs to keep me going. If I can't find it on eBay, then so be it.
On to some interesting pics in the collection (thanks to MattG)

Jawaballs Selloff
Those of you who follow 40k blogs are probably familiar with Jawaballs (Chris). He is doing a big selloff to raise a little $$$ to put towards a house.
Help a 40k brother out:
http://warhammer40kbloodangels.blogspot.com/2011/04/great-jawaballs-sell-off.html
Dark Eldar is spoken for :-) I snatched it all up, but he still has alot of stuff left.

Selloff
Well I'm getting a bit bored with the Armies I'm playing, and considering a sell off. Take a plunge and start a new army.
I'm disappointed that the 5thED choices are limited. I'm not interested in Power Armor, so that leaves: Tyranids, IG, and Dark Eldar.
I already have alot of Tyranids, so gonna give them a go this weekend. I'm more interested in Dark Eldar than IG, however IG seems to have more configurations. If I wasn't so adverse against Power Armor, I would invest time in my sons Blood Angels. I really enjoy the various combo's you can use, DoA, Armor, etc. Blood Angels have alot of options.
Still trying to decide what to sell. Obviously will sell Orks and Chaos. Debating on selling my SW, if I ever decide to give them another shot, I would like to redo their scheme anyhoo.
I'm ready to start a new project. On a sidenote, Matt was kind enough to have a couple of high gloss posters made for me. I bought frames and everything :-) Below are the posters that he had made.

ForgeWorld
... making Games Workshop model prices look CHEAP, since 1998.
So Forgeworld just came out with a NEW vehicle for IG, it's about twice physical size of a Chimera. Go check it out here...
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/CRASSUS-ARMOURED-TRANSPORT.html
Amazing huh? So do you think it's worth $181? I'm making the assumption that Forgeworld has replaced Resin with Silver for casting.
Next time I have $512 laying around, maybe I'll just head over to their site and pick up a Chaos Warhound Titan... or I'll purchase a plane ticket to the Caribbean instead.
Hey FW, GTFO
Now if you regularly purchase from Forgeworld, please tell me your reasoning. I would like to understand how someone could pay so much for a plastic model.

Face Value
See the comments in this post. Blogger answers a question plainly, using the rulebook... and the picking apart of the each syllable of the rules begins in the comments.
One thing that I dislike generally in this game, thou it's not prevalent in our gaming group... why I generally don't play outside of it.
Is how people will just pick the rules apart when the rule is obvious. I find it ironic that 99% of the time the person(s) picking the rule apart, is trying to help the army they play.
I recently read a post whereas someone was asking a question about assault vehicles, specifically the Land Raider. He wanted to know "Can I move 12", dump my guys, and Assault". A poster responded that he could not do that... about 8 posts later of arguments, he explained you can't "dump" troops... you can "disembark".
While there are some good peeps that play this game, there are alot of socially inept, rude, smelly turds as well.
Thankfully, I haven't played against one directly yet... well, at least the one I did had good hygiene.
If you have followed that post, read the comments, and feel the need to "clarify" something about that rule... give yourself a quick "sniff", make sure you don't need to shower.

Games Play, Picked up a Brush
I've taken about a two week break from painting and it has been nice. Just to get stuff done around the house, and play a couple of games in between.
Played a good Chaos vs. Tyranids... I play against Tyranids ALOT!
I ran a DP (wings/lash), two squads of Berzerkers (Rhino/Land Raider), squad of CSM w/ Rhine (MoS), 8xDaemonettes, and round it out with two Defilers.
This list proved to be freakishly devastating against Nids. Defilers actually didn't do much, Zerkers with an Assault vehicle stomped. Daemonettes did their job, as well as the CSM with MoS (initiative 5).
Second game, the group mixed things up a bit. Our Nid player Joe joined me for some SW action, and see how it is from my side of the table, while Ben wanted to try Joe's nids. The only thing Ben knows of Nids is what he's seen against them.
I brought two lists, Joe rolled for which one to use.. Wolfstar.
This was a one-sided battle that started off horribly (rolling), but in the end we won, only losing two models.
After a two week hiatus, decided to paint up a couple of 'shooty' Terminators. I have plently of Assault Terminators, so thought I would use the last bits I had laying around to paint up two guys with guns.
Some base colors done.

Random Stuff
Top down picture of my painting table's surface
Chaos list was Khorne dominated (Ben and I shared), and we decided to run it as such. Surging forward and pouring out Berserkers and Kharn into the heart of the Swarm.
As it was getting late, we decided to at the BEGINNING of turn 5 to roll to see if the game would continue... I rolled, and it would've ended at Turn 5. So looking at the board and the next movements Chaos would've pulled off the win being able to take 2 objectives. Had the game gone on, it would have at least been a draw, or a Tyranid win!
Painting
I've wrapped up all the Chaos/Tyranid requirements for the Month two deadline (and painted extra). I have finally motivated myself to focus on Orks. I've knocked out the Stormboys (they we're 80% done by the first week). I'm about done with the three additional bikes and trukk, and have yet to come close to finishing the 11 boys and Nob.
I figure I can have them all completed by Wednesday night, LW. So long as nothing unexpected comes up, I am shooting to fnish the Termagants by Friday night.

Cool Link
Meant to post this last night, cool site I stumbled across:
Space within Space
On a sidenote, with all the stuff I need to paint to meet the month two deadline, I was up late last night creating a cool 1500 point Chaos list, which then led me to start painting a Chaos Landraider, ha!
I really need to focus. Toughest part about doing this, is making the commitment. I made the commitment to paint four armies in four months. My desire to paint hasn't decreased, however the desire to paint what I need to paint has. I built a couple more Space Wolves Terminators that are just begging to be painted.
I REAALY could just paint and dip Tyranids for a solid week, and be happy as a pig in slop... or paint a Chaos Land Raider ;-)

CabanaHammer 2011
CabanaHammer 2011
CabanaHammer was a blast! Group of players getting together for FUN games. Everyone was asked to bring a few 1250 lists. Three tables and eight players, so two 1v1 and one table 2v2. Some spectacularly bad rolling that I will remember for a long time :-) Lars and Patrick we're neck and neck for bad rolling, tough to call. Patrick wiffed a ton of melta rolls, while Lars racked up six 1's and three 2's, in assault against Tau. Later Lars spent his second game shooting Havoks and Defiler at a Valk for 5 turns solid before destroying it. Funny enough, on the ride home.. "Havoks suck!". Joe and I had to remind him, bad rolling can make any unit "suck". haha.
Met some great peeps; Andrew, Cameron, Chris and Lee. Patrick hosted, and all went off without a hitch. Chris and Lee brought some great tables, terrain, and some really fun armies! Learned a bit watching the DarkEldar.. so did Joe, bit the hard way o.O
Lee(DE) and Joe(Nids)
Andrew brought a great looking Tau Army, and a great sportsmanship, tutoring Lars in the HOT sun for his first game, and schooling me in his second ;-)
Camera settings off sorry :-(, these guys looked awesome! Great Scheme!
Cameron too, great player and great guy just having fun.. with some freakishly sweet looking tanks. No masking for the camo, just hand painted.
Cameron's Tanks
Lars trying yet again to kill the Valk... (took him 5 turns). Chris and Lee watching (and laughing later of the rolls).
Joe watching his Hive Tyrant bogged by boyz, while Cameron watches his Valk eek thru another turn :-)

Preach it Brother!
Terrain
Example of the amount of terrain Noobhammer uses
Something that has always annoyed me when reading or viewing (youtube) batreps, is the "lack" of terrain. I had the opportunity to view a local tournament a couple months ago, and the obvious lack of terrain was appalling.
I always wanted to post about it, but I'm a Nooblet, so what do I know? Joe would know more, he plays Nids. I'm a Noob and probably wouldn't articulate it well.
I don't need to, Joe was cool and supplied this Blogpost by a Vet player... read, and get skool'd
Terrain
Best quote (directed towards TOs), "If you demand fully painted armies, we demand proper terrain on every table. "

Spearhead Expansion Free and StormRaven
So Gamesworkshop has released the Spearhead expansion via FREE PDF download on their site. I browsed the rules, and it's pretty decent if you want something different. Thou, obviously you have to have some spare tanks on hand. Apparently Rhino's don't count :-)
So I picked up the new White Dwarf, which of course is a Blood Angels lovefest with the new releases. I didn't mind so much, as I was tired of passing up the mag due to excessive LotR and Fantasy material.
This brings me to the StormRaven(sp). I have the BA codex, and I'm reading the White Dwarf which touts this flyer as the AwesomeSauce, bristling with missiles of Uberness, Hurricane Bolters, Melta, Ass Cannons, and Pumpkin Cannon. Carries a boatton of guys AND a dread into combat... is an Assault Vehicle, so unload, smash face .. (unlike Droppod.. unload, get shot to peices, get assaulted, think of creative ways to melt said Droppod into a peice of artwork for the mantle)...
So all this uberness is 200pts... .. I'm a noob of epic 40k proportions, but am I the only one that realizes that the Blood Angels TechMarines used spare boltershell packing cardboard to armor this thing?
Essentially your paying gobs of points, for a flying assault rhino with weapons... and in my experience, rhino's and razorbacks don't last long. Oh and it costs a small fortune.
Am I that noobish, or is GW a bit out of touch. Personally, if I drank the noob GW Koolaid, ran out and purchased this expensive Rhino of flying Epicsauce... I'd be pretty pissed to see all that $$$ and time, and the squad inside .. go poof to a Krak Missile or stray Las shot... who am I kidding, no shots will be stray. With lists that have Long Fangs and 12-15 Missile Launchers, I see the StormRaven as a permanent flaming fixture of the Blood Angels army, to toast marshmellows over by turn two and sing Kumbaya.

1G Fail
Why ooooh why did I choose Orks as one of the Armies. I committed to do four armies in four months, and Orks are utter fail for this project. Too many models to paint!
Looking ahead for what I have to paint next month:
Space Wolves:
Gotta get at least a Rhino done to stay ahead of the game.
Tyranids:
12 Termagants and a Trygon... ok not bad. Still gotta get the trygon put together.
Chaos:
4 Terminators, and 2 Defilers... hmm two more big models.. ok.. doable
Orks:
11 Boys
6 Stormboys
4 Bikes
3 Warbuggys
Nob
and a Truk
What is even worse, I haven't even figured out an 1850pt list for them yet. Only figured them out up to 1500pts, and even that list is a bit short :-(
I should've done Black Templars *sigh*. I gotta ton of BT's I could've worked on. If I only hadn't made the oath that I wouldn't touch another BT or paint black, until the next Codex came out.

.. then they update the Black Templar FAQ.
Update: After writing this, I spent the morning base coloring the Stormboyz, hopefully get the Buggies primed this evening. Figure I will juggle Berzerkers and Orks, paint Zerks, while drying, paint Orks... rinse n' repeat. I've had to do this most of the time, so still gonna keep chugging along.

Gamin' and Painting
Heyoh, first I have to say had my favorite game so far Saturday night! That was alot of fun, and BIG! I'm bummed I forgot the camera. 1500pts, no winner/loser as we made some mistakes and called it a night. Space Wolves vs. Tyranids. However, everything went pretty smoothly, and the flow of the battle was great! It really came down to the wire!
Game motivated me to paint some Orks, so that is always a good thing! I painted the Tyranids quickly, but for some reason just have been unmotivated/uninterested in painting Orks. This maybe the reason why they've sat around so long on sprues (3+ years). I finished up the two truks, and the KillaKan. Base coloured the three Bikez. Decided to swap two bikez in the list, for the Killa Kan. I had to redo his paint scheme, but the model is just too cool, and really wanted to paint him.
So I have to wrap up the 3 bikez, and finishing touches on some random boyz (missed spots; metal bitz, teeth here and there, etc.)
This week schedule:
Monday:Wrap up the Orks, finish put the HTyrant together and prime (already filled gaps with putty)
Tuesday-Thursday: Berserkers
If I can wrap everything up by Monday, I'll have all four Armies 500pts ready for the first month due date. This will give me a week to work on Space Wolves. Goal is to use the extra week to get the Space Wolves 1850pt done (three vehicles, *yikes*), so I can spend the remaining three months focused on three armies instead of four.
I will be posting some picks of before and after trukk painting. The original eBay paintjobs were poor, and for ugly (OOP) models, I'm happy with the way they turned out!

Orks Update and Blood Angels Battleforce
Ork Nob Scheme
Incomplete, but getting there

Camera settings are still off :-(
I still have to wrap up the Boyz, and the Bikez, hopefully will have the Boyz done by Friday Night, and the Bikez by Sunday.
I'll then shoot to wrapup the Berserkers next week. This will leave a final week to put my efforts back into my Space Wolves. I have some cool Space Wolves lists I want to try, but can't field a rhino or razorback that's still in shrinkwrap :-(
The Angels Have Landed..
to rip you off?
Ok, just figured out the pricing of the Blood Angels Battleforce.
It's $100 compared to the SM Battleforce which is $90. BUT, it drops the Scouts ($22.50), drops the Combat Squad ($22.50), and adds the Death Company w/ Jump Packs ($33).
So for $10 more, you trade $45 worth of models for $33 in models... Uhm, I'm not a mathematician, but that doesn't sound like a good deal.

Ramblings and Rules Question
![]() |
Last Black Templar piece I painted, not even half done.. no worries, the Pack doesn't mind the smell of incense :-)
So new BT update is out, and it has made some interesting fixes, thou not sure they're enough to draw me back. I was really drawn to the fluff of the Black Templar's, and started cranking out an army. Diving head first without really researching. I was researching a bit, checking various lists for good n' bad units, but never actually researched the Army. Let me tell you, trying learn this game (5th Edition), with a older codex is TOUGH! There were a numerous amount of discrepancies, issues, etc. Too confusing.
Won't give up on them, but promised myself I wasn't investing in BT's until they get a new codex, and a two page update on the internet isn't going to cut it.
No matter, I can use the Razorback, Land Raider, and two Speeders I painted for my Space Wolves to zip around in.
EDIT, begin:
comment response, "Yea, I was going to post that question with the Batrep, just didn't have the Batrep done."
Situation:
2(Hive Tyrant/Gaunts) units win an assault against 1(Grey Hunters) sm unit.
The sole remaining Grey Hunter fails leadership, falls back 5 inches.
Questions:
We rolled for sweeping advance, starting with the Gaunts (they catch him)... does the Hive Tyrant roll for sweeping advance? If so, Does the Hive Tyrant have too?
Obviously Space Marines cannot be destroyed by a sweeping advance, if caught they "continue to fight normally", which isn't accurate as the next sentence states that they are subject to the "no retreat" rule, hence the lone guy makes #saves, based on the wound difference. Is this correct?
If the HT has to Sweep Advance, is it ordered? So in our example. The gaunts catch the SM survivor (sweeping advance), do you immediately resolve the 'no retreat' saves, then sweep the HT or roll all sweeping advances?
In our case it didn't affect the game, as the lone survivor didn't make his saves and was destroyed, however the question arose as basically Joe didn't want to leave his Hive Tyrant out of close combat to get shot (understandably). We couldn't find anything defining in the rulebook, but it just didn't make sense (to me) that you would lose control of all your units. Example, three units assault one, win, and then all of them make a sweeping advance at once, regardless of the possible outcome of sweeping advance 1, 2 or 3 (if it's ordered).
EDIT, end.
Game Table
Played my 14th game this weekend. Good game Space Wolves vs. Tyranids. Had some fun, laughs, and hammered out more rules. Collectively we made very few mistakes. Will have a couple of questions soon thou.
Didn't get alot of pictures, but did get some of the over engineered game table, that is not finished. So in closing pictures of the "unfinished" over engineered game table of uberness, enjoi
